Cedar Point Calls Saturday’s Delays ‘Not Normal’

SANDUSKY, OH — Officials with Cedar Point say the extreme delays patrons experienced getting in and out of the park on Saturday were “not normal.”

FOX 8 received a number of phone calls and e-mails regarding the unusually long wait.

According to Bryan Edwards, the commotion was due to the combination of perfect weather, the Columbus Day holiday and the park’s annual HalloWeekends event.

Edwards released the following statement on Saturday’s parking issue:

While guests were attempting to park their vehicles, and subsequently, leave the park at the end of the day, they experienced a longer than normal delay in our parking lot and on our causeway. Like sporting events, concerts and other events where large crowds gather, guests leave around the same time creating a backup.

Our current parking procedures and traffic patterns are in place to safely direct vehicles in and out of our parking lot, as safety is our primary concern. However, we are aware that the delay on Saturday, October 12 was not normal.

Edwards says park officials are currently reviewing their parking and traffic procedures.

Many patrons voiced their frustration on Twitter.
