CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man in sitting in jail under investigation for spitting on a Cleveland police officer when a protest erupted into chaos in front of a FOX 8 I-Team camera.

It happened downtown Friday afternoon. Cleveland police blocked streets and cleared a path for a group of protesters marching to speak out against Donald Trump as president.

Suddenly, a woman and a man could be seen interfering with a bike patrol officer riding alongside the group. As the officer moved to grab the man, he pulled away and spit in the face of the officer.

As police handcuffed the man and started to walk him away, a woman tried to get in the middle of it. Police pushed her away and she ended up on the ground.

And moments after that, another woman got into a struggle with police. She ended up taken to jail. The I-Team has learned she’s 21, and she could face charges of aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

The man, we’ve learned, is 19 from Cleveland’s west side. He could face the same charges as the woman along with a felony charge of assault on a police officer for the spitting.

We’re watching for charges to be filed, so we can find out more about the suspects.
