CLEVELAND-- There are no tears shed by the Uncle of Ariel Castro Wednesday.

"Not by me. I don't know about anyone else," said Julio Castro, Ariel Castro's uncle.

Members of Castro's family said they were notified about one in the morning.

That's almost two hours after Ariel Castro, 53, used a bed sheet to hang himself inside his prison cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio.

"I think he took the short way out because he was serving a nonsense sentence," said Castro.

Castro was serving life in prison plus 1,000 years for kidnapping and raping Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight and keeping them captive for over a decade.

"It doesn't make sense. Who is going to last a thousand years? And that's what they gave him: a thousand years in jail," added Castro.

On Seymour Avenue, the reminder of what Castro did is gone. His house is gone and so are the two neighboring homes.

Instead, a garden stands there, that symbolizes regrowth.

When asked if the Castro family had anything to say to the three women, Julio Castro said no comment.

But when asked about a funeral for Castro, Julio said," It would be a mistake."
