AVON, Ohio — An accident during the Wednesday morning commute caused a car to get ‘entangled’ in a tractor trailer.
The City of Avon Police Department confirmed the accident happened just after 7 a.m. on SR 611 between Chester Road and I-90 in Avon.
A man and a woman in the car were initially trapped but freed by the Avon Fire Department.
They were taken to the Avon Emergency Care Center then life flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Details on their injuries were not immediately known.
The driver of the truck did not appear to have any injuries.
According to Avon police, the car was headed east on SR 611 as the tractor trailer was headed west.
A preliminary investigation revealed the car went off the right side of the road for unknown reasons and struck a guardrail, then crossed the raised concrete median and encountered the oncoming truck.
The car was dragged for a short distance before both vehicles came to a stop.
The westbound lanes of SR 611 and Chester Road between Moore Road and SR 611 were closed for about three hours after the crash.
The names of the victims were withheld pending notification of family.
