HOUSTON, Texas–  It’s been a difficult few weeks for Canton Police Officer Ryan Davis.

On Jan. 9,  his K-9 partner, Jethro, was shot multiple times during a shootout with a suspect. Jethro died the next day.

On Monday, Davis is in Houston at K9s4COPS searching for a new partner.

“It’s difficult because there will be hole in my heart that will never be filled,” Davis told Fox 8.  “But I think this will help with the healing process.”

Davis said he believes Jethro saved his life.

Davis and Dave Blosser, Tri-State Canine Services, will spend the day at K9s4COPS looking for the new partner. They are hoping to return Tuesday with the new K-9.
