CANTON – The Canton Police Department’s newest K-9 will be on the streets soon.

Canton K-9 trainer and Officer Eric Stanbro said he expects Tuko to begin his new job at the end of the week.

Tuko will be on Fox 8 New In The Morning on Monday, along with Stanbro and Tuko’s partner, officer Ryan Davis.

Tuko has just about finished the training he started in February, shortly after arriving in Ohio.

Davis lost his former partner, Jethro, back in January.

Jethro was killed after he was shot several times during a shoot-out with a suspect.

Davis and Dave Blosser with Tri-State Canine , went to K9s4COPS in Houston in January looking for Davis’ new partner, and that’s when they found Tuko.

K9s4COPS is a non-profit organization which donated the K-9 for training.

Davis said Jethro will always have a special place in his heart.
