AKRON, Ohio- One  man was shot when gunfire rang out along a highway in Akron early Tuesday morning.

It happened at about 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 76 and state Route 8.

Akron police said several shots were fired from a Kia Sorento into a Chevrolet Impala, hitting the driver in the leg. The 35-year-old victim was taken to Akron city Hospital, where he was treated and released.

A semi-truck going north of SR 8 was hit by stray bullets. The driver pulled off the highway near Seasons Road and noticed he had a flat tire. He was not injured.

Akron police detectives said they do not believe the shooting was random.
