BRATENAHL, Ohio — A Bratenahl police officer is recovering after his cruiser was hit by a car while assisting with a traffic stop on Sunday.

According to Mayor John Licastro, it happened on I 90 east near Eddy Road around 3:30 a.m.

Officer Tim O’Haire was pulled over on the berm providing back up for a fellow officer when his cruiser was rear ended by Natisha Carter.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol tells FOX 8 the 27-year-old was charged with OVI, failure to operate in marked lanes and no seat belt.

Troopers report that she drove across two lanes before striking the cruiser.

Both O’Haire and Carter were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. O’Haire has since been treated and released.

This is the second crash involving a Bratenahl police officer recently. The last one happened back in April on the same stretch of highway.

Troopers remind drivers to slow down and move over when passing stopped public safety vehicles.
