AUBURN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A two-year-old boy passed away on Tuesday, following a tragic accident at a lake in the Geauga County park system on Sunday.

According to Scott Wilson, spokesperson for the Geauga County parks, around 5:00 p.m. on August 26th, the child strayed away from a function being held at the Beartown Lake Reserve.

An official with the Geauga County Sheriff’s office tells Fox 8 News that little boy is David Russell Gorham, of Clinton in Summit County.

Gorham’s family was attending a function at a large pavilion in the park, according to Wilson.

David’s parents, Kimber and Nick Gorham, along with numerous adults attending the function, immediately began searching for him when they noticed he was missing, said Wilson.

David was found by an adult in the Lower Bear Lake.

Kevin Nisley, co-owner of ALittleBirdie.org, a website dedicated to help raise funds for David’s funeral, provided information online stating that Nick Gorham was able to help revive David’s heart, but the little boy was not breathing.

Wilson says that upon arrival by Geauga County EMS, David was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Wilson says that the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner alerted the park system of David’s passing two days later.

According to ALittleBirdie.org, David’s organs were donated and helped save the life of another child.

Nisley provide information to Fox 8 News from Kimber Gorham in which she stated, “The more people that can be touched by David’s story, the better.”

According to the Gorham family, the night before David’s accident he called all of his family members and said, “I love you” and quote a verse from the bible. The verse, Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
