LORAIN, Ohio-- Tuesday's sunshine tells you boating season is just around the corner in Northeast Ohio; but boat owners in one city are still concerned about the damage Superstorm Sandy left behind.

"Right now you are looking at perch season coming in and walleye are hitting and people are gonna be coming down here," said Chris Woods of Lorain.

It's time to hit Lake Erie but some people at Lorain's public boat launch said the dock is a mess and needs fixing.

"The issue with the ramps right now- they are not straight and there's no bumpers; there's no cleats; there's nails sticking out off the edges and it's causing damage to people's boats," said Scott Reynolds of Lorain.

Reynolds owns Hot Waters Bait & Tackle right on the Lorain public launch.

Reynolds said he gets daily calls to see if the launching ramps have been fixed; but they haven't been, so then potential customers go someplace else.

"People are launching at other public docks and that's affecting my business for the obvious reasons; they are not launching out of here," said Reynolds.

On a sunny day the Lorain public docks are usually packed with people launching their boats.  Some boaters say they are shocked the launch hasn't been repaired sooner.

"Right now I'm very surprised that they're messed up this late into the year. I could see damage during the winter but here it's coming up on May and you are gonna have 100, 200 boats trying to get in over here," said Andy Kywa of Vermilion.

Hal Kendrick is the public property manager for the city of Lorain. He said the city is aware of the repairs and they're working on it.

"Lift up the heavy weights that are weighting those docks down that have moved and move back into place and work on getting some quotes to put in a pylon system at the end of the dock to hold them in place going moving forward," said Kendrick.
