MEDINA, Ohio– Tuesday night, the Medina City School Board of Education approved the contract for interim superintendent, Dave Knight.

The Board placed Superintendent Dr. Randy Stepp on paid leave earlier this month, pending further investigation.

According to a press release, Knight requested his hourly rate be $30 per hour. Knight said, “I am here to serve the community, the children and staff of the Medina City Schools. When I entered public education I did so because I believe in a quality education for all children and that continues to be my goal. It is important to me to keep our focus on education and the value we can all bring to the children of our community.”

Knight’s contract states his service started on April 25 and continues on an as-needed basis until June 30.

Knight was the principal at Fenn Elementary School until his retirement.
