CLEVELAND, Ohio — Rascal Flatts. Usher. Marlana VanHoose.
Those are the singers and groups who got the honor of singing the National Anthem before the NBA Finals games at Quicken Loans Arena.
You may not know Marlana VanHoose’s name, but her voice will stay with you.
According to her Facebook page, the Kentucky teen will perform the National Anthem Tuesday night before Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.
According to her website, VanHoose, who is 19 years old, was born with Cytomeglo virus. The virus prevented her optic nerve from forming and she has been blind since birth. She was not expected to live past one year, but she believes God had other plans for her. She says she was humming “Jesus Loves Me” before she talked and taught herself to play the piano by the age of two.
She has sung the national anthem before a variety of sporting events — including a Cavs game back in April (video above) and the NBA Conference Finals in May. The Cavs won both of those games!
Vanhoose has also been featured on ESPN.
