Thanksgiving is around the corner and so is Black Friday.

Cheri Carder from Cuyahoga Falls has an edge on the rest of the shoppers.  She’s not just a pro at finding deals, she teaches others how to find them too.

“We’re always out Black Friday for the holiday savings because we’ve been able to get our entire families gifts for under $100,” she told Fox 8 Call For Action Reporter Lorrie Taylor. “We bought, I think it was (for) 15 people for $93.”

Carder said the secret to successfully navigating Black Friday is organization.

Carder begins by monitoring the Black Friday sales long before they ever come out on Thanksgiving Day.

She recommended entering the words “Black Friday” into a search engine, choosing a website, and signing up for its email alerts.

Ty Price, the founder of, expects about a million people to log onto his site during the month of November for the same reason.

“It’s really nice to see ads weeks before,” he said. “You’ll be able to search by category and product and then find all the stores, which makes it a lot easier than perusing all the ads together.”

Carder said that’s the kind of organization that gives Black Friday shoppers an advantage.

So does making a list of who you’ll be shopping for and what you intend to buy them.

Once the day arrives, Carder recommends getting out early, wearing comfortable shoes and packing snacks in case it’s a long day.

“It does pay to be one of the first people through the door if you can do it, absolutely you will get good deals,” she said.

Price offered one final tip from a pro.

He told Taylor once shoppers snag a phenomenal deal they should do what he does and avoid wasting time in long lines.

“I always go to the jewelry counter because no one’s buying jewelry at five in the morning, and you say, ‘hey can I check out here?’ And they go, ‘yeah,’ ’cause they have nothing to do.”
