BEDFORD, Ohio (WJW) — A Bedford High School teacher has been indicted after allegedly engaging in sexual activity with two students.

According to the police report, officials with Bedford City School District informed authorities in November of a possible inappropriate relationship between a female teacher and male student.

Investigation revealed that Laura E. Dunker, 30, did engage in sexual activity with two male students.

The district says Dunker was immediately put on leave, as the safety of the students is their top priority. The Board of Education accepted her resignation on December 5.

Dunker has now been formally charged with six counts of sexual battery.

Dr. Andrea Celico, Superintendent of Bedford City School District, sent the following message to the Bedford Schools' families and staff:

Hello,

I am writing to inform you that I have just been notified that the Bedford High School teacher who was placed on administrative leave was indicted on six counts of sexual battery involving two students. As I previously shared with our community, we immediately put the teacher on leave in order to protect the safety and well-being of our students.  The Board of Education accepted her resignation on December 5.

We offered services for those affected and will continue to offer support to those who may have been impacted by these allegations.  As always, our priority is for the care and concern for the student victims and our school community as a whole.  Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Andrea Celico, Ph.D.
