BAY VILLAGE, Ohio --Friday night, a memorial of balloons was released into the sky at Huntington Beach in Bay Village.

"We all just wanted to let balloons go for him and everyone get together and celebrate his life," said Kayla Thorton, a student at North Olmsted High School.

About a hundred students gathered at the beach to watch the sunset.

It's a place that friends say Bruce Malik Adams, 15, also known as Malik, loved to go.

"He was funny.  Made everyone laugh and smile.  He was such a good person," said Ahmad Avuhamdah, a childhood friend.

Malik was struck and killed on Brookpark Road in North Olmsted late Thursday night.

"Right now, we have no witnesses and it's a fairly dark stretch roadway with no lights. It's a divided roadway and it's heavily traveled," said Capt. Mike Kilbane, with the North Olmsted Police Department.

Malik was a sophomore at North Olmsted High School.

According to the district, the principal notified staff then students Friday afternoon.

Guidance counselors were on hand and will remain at the school through Monday.

"When I heard, I had to leave. I just couldn't believe it.  He was such a great guy.  I can't believe someone would do this to him and just leave him there," said Adam Marshall, friend.

Anyone with any information is asked to call North Olmsted police.
