AVON – Avon Middle School history teacher Tim Wearsch will be embarking on quite the journey this summer.

He will be riding his bike from California to Washington, D.C. The ride is more than 3,000 miles.

He is taking on the challenge to raise money for Prayers From Maria.

Last year, Fox 8 raised $60,000 for the charity during our annual Fox 8 Fox Trot.

Maria McNamara was a local girl who passed away from a brain tumor at the age of 7 in 2007. Her family and friends created Prayers From Maria to help raise money for other children who suffer from cancer.
