LAKEWOOD, Ohio- The name of the little boy who died after falling nine stories from an apartment window was released on Thursday.

The Lakewood Police Department said 14-month-old Kwaku Nuamah fell from the ninth floor of The Castlewood on Detroit Avenue just before 7 p.m. Wednesday. Kwaku was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died.

The initial investigation determined the child fell 72 feet.

We spoke with a resident who lives on the same floor as the boy. Chris Evans told us the windows in the complex seem secure, but they are only about a foot to a foot and a half from the floor.

“The windows that don’t have balconies are pretty low to the ground,” Evans said. “You can open them. The ones in the rooms do have screens, but the ones in the hallway do not.”

The man who made the original 911 call said the baby fell out of the back of the building.

Police are still investigating what lead to the fall.
