PARMA, Ohio -- Cuyahoga Community College police say a student fought back against a man who went after her in the parking lot.

They issued an alert Tuesday evening after the attempted abduction of a female student on the Western Campus.

It happened at around 5:20 p.m. in the C parking lot.

Police say the suspect is a white male in his early- to late-20s, 5'11", 175-200 lbs., with a heavy build. He was wearing a black jacket with a hoodie and blue jeans.

The suspect was last seen driving away in a dark green, two-door car toward York Road.

Meanwhile, campus police advise students and staff to be vigilant, walk in groups and utilize the campus police escort service by calling (216) 987-4325.

"It is very scary because I take night classes in here," said Yasmin Abukhalil, a senior at Cuyahoga Community College.

Other students added they are worried about walking to their cars in the evening after the attempted abduction.

"One of the statements (the subject) made to her, he asked her if she wanted to come home with him and it wasn't just the statement and it was the way that he was acting," said Chief Clayton Harris of the Tri-C Campus Police.

Harris said the man followed the female student from one of the buildings into parking lot C but luckily she was prepared and took action.

"This female actually grabbed her pepper spray, sprayed the male, kicked him in the groin and was able to get into her car and leave the scene," Harris explained.

"It just feels like it can happen to anyone, ya know.  Just going to your car on campus where you feel safe, it's a great school, beautiful campus, everyone seems to be reminding each other to call if you need to go to your car by yourself to go in pairs," said Meghan Pierce, a senior at Tri-C.

Campus police are looking at surveillance video to see if will help in their investigation and police presence has been increased since the incident.

Anyone with information should contact the Tri-C campus police at (216) 987-4325.
