CLEVELAND, Ohio -  Two police officers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries from Redell Avenue in Cleveland Wednesday night, according to EMS. Both officers are expected to be okay.

President of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association Steve Loomis told Fox 8's Peggy Gallek that one of the suspects was trying to shoot an officer in the head, and the officer was hit with shrapnel.

"The officers are okay, but this is just another example of what Cleveland police officers go through every day," said Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams. "Every day our guys and girls go out there and put their lives on the line for the people of this city, sometimes it doesn't turn out quite the way we like it."

The other officer's injuries were also not from a gunshot.

We're told two suspects have been arrested; one was complaining of chest pain and was taken to the hospital.
