A robber in an orange ski mask carrying a shotgun was the last thing a clerk at a carry-out in Newcomerstown wanted to see early Saturday morning.
Police said the suspect ordered the terrified employee at the Duke and Duchess on East State Street to empty the cash register.
Officer Mike Brooks told Fox 8, "He's extremely shook up. It shook him down to the core, for lack of better words. I mean, it's a big gun. It's a pretty scary situation for anyone."
The clerk was not harmed, and the suspect fled in a small, dark car.
Such crimes are rare in Newcomerstown, a village of about 4,000 people in the rolling hills of Tuscarawas County, and authorities concede they are concerned about what the gunman might be capable of.
"Anybody that is willing to put a shotgun in another person's face and demand money is very desperate and absolutely needs to be caught," said Officer Brooks.
The crime was captured by surveillance cameras and investigators are hoping that the public can help them identify the robber, by putting together the various pieces of the puzzle, especially the orange ski mask and the shotgun.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Newcomerstown Police Department.
