CLEVELAND – The LeBron James mural will rise again!
The Planning Commission approved the addition Friday and a permit was issued.
Nike designed the new mural, which shows James from behind. He extends his arms outward as a puff of white powder lingers in the air. “Cleveland” is boldly displayed on the back of his jersey.
The image will hang from the Sherwin-Williams building near Quicken Loans Arena where the old “Witness” mural was.
“For the past three years, we have dedicated the side of the Sherwin-Williams headquarters building at Ontario and Huron to celebrate the energy, strength and beauty of our home town of Cleveland,” said Chris Connor, chairman and CEO of Sherwin-Williams. “LeBron James is certainly one of the prides of Northeast Ohio. We think this new banner is a fitting tribute to LeBron’s return to Cleveland and we join with Nike and Cavaliers fans everywhere to welcome him home.”
The 10-story banner will be 25,000 square feet and weigh 1.3 tons. It is expected to be in place by the Cavs’ home opener against the New York Nicks on Oct. 30.
