NORTHFIELD, OH -- Thousands of hopeful job applicants lined up outside Northfield Park Thursday, each of them wanting to work for the area's newest gaming destination.
Hard Rock is expected to open its new 'Rocksino' at Northfield Park in December.
The destination will feature slot machines, video lottery terminals, entertainment and dining.
Along with it will come as many as 700 new jobs, from servers to cooks, security, human resources, administration, marketing and more.
Applications for the jobs are taken online. Thursday's job fair was more of a fact-finding mission for those hoping to land one of the jobs. But the lure of employment drew hundreds to Northfield Park well before the doors were scheduled to open at 1:00 p.m.
"Right now, I'm at McDonald's and I'm a grill cook and I'm a grill crew trainer so I'd like to push that, maybe stay in the restaurant part, become a manager," said Lorain Fortner of Northfield.
"I work for the Cleveland school system doing hearing testing. I've been laid off so I'm searching. That's my story," said Karl Cody.
"I'm a small business owner and so I could work part-time and still be with my family, but I think I'm looking to get back to the corporate world in an administrative position," said Constance Ritter.
The jobs range from permanent full-time to part-time and include hourly as well as salaried positions.
Many of those who showed up Thursday left feeling optimistic.
With such a large number of applicants to choose from, Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park President Jon Lucas was optimistic as well.
"You want to be able to get the best of the best and you want a large selection of people to choose from and we think that will happen," said Lucas.
