Dozens of people displaced after blaze erupts at Westlake apartment complex

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Dozens of people have been displaced from their homes, after a fire broke out  at an apartment complex early Thursday morning.

The Westlake Fire Department said the blaze started in a building at Barrington Place on Detroit Road around 4 a.m., shutting down the road for  more than 6 hours.

Everyone who lived inside the complex got out safely, however a North Ridgeville firefighter suffered  minor injuries after getting hit with falling debris.

He was treated and released from a local hospital..

The American Red Cross tells FOX 8, 24 units were damaged in the fire.

Those impacted are being assisted by the Red Cross who is providing temporary housing at a nearby shelter during this time.

FOX 8's Matt Wright was told at the scene that Barrington Place Management will be putting the individuals up in a hotel.
