WESTLAKE, Ohio — American Greetings has announced a delay in plans to build a new world headquarters in Westlake.

Directors want to temporarily delay the project at Crocker Park to take the company private.

The project was originally set to be completed mid-2014. American Greetings says the delay will be short and will have no adverse impact on the company.

In May, American Greetings released designs for the new studios. The 655,000 square foot building was designed by RTKL architects, and will include retail space. The 5-story structure will have an open square with courtyard space for use by employees and will be connected to a garage by a glass-enclosed skyway.

American Greetings has not said how long the delay will last. Stay with and Fox 8 News for any new developments.
