CLEVELAND (WJW) — The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for Northeast Ohio counties along Lake Erie.

Starting at 2 p.m. today until Wednesday morning, the alert is issued for the following counties: Erie, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula Lakeshore.

The NWS says wind and waves will create currents along the lakeshore that can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and out into the lake.

Swimmers should not enter the water.
