TWINSBURG, Ohio– The PAWSibilities Humane Society of Greater Akron is looking for homes for 56 recently-rescued pure bred miniature schnauzers.
A breeder who was unable to care for the dogs surrendered the animals, which range in age from 1 to 14 years. Some of them are already available for adoption, while others need more medical treatment.
However, PAWSibilities President & CEO Diane Johnson says, none of the animals suffered any neglect or cruelty and all are undergoing thorough personality assessments and being checked for compatibility with different types of people, situations, children, and cats.
The adoption fees for the mini schnauzers are higher than the mixed breed dogs, but Diane says they are being discounted by 50% for this weekend’s Labor of Love Adoption Event.
Prices for the schnauzers are as follows: $200 for puppies 1 to 4-years-old, $100 for dogs ages 5 to 9, and $50 for dogs 10 and older.
Spaying or neutering, vaccinations and microchipping are included in the price; along with a one hour breed specific training class.
More than 150 other dogs and 250 cats and kittens are also at the shelter and in need of good homes.
“Although we are so very full right now, we knew we had to help these miniature schnauzers embark on their new lives. We are relying on the community members to open their hearts and homes over the next few weeks for these schnauzers and all the other animals currently in our care. Please consider adopting or donating to help us in this lifesaving work of caring for these rescued animals.”
PAWSilbities is hoping to place these “diamonds in the ruff” into low-traffic, adult-only homes.
PHSGA has rescued more than 600 animals since the start of July. The Labor of Love Adoption Event is Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but people can see the schnauzers now.
Adoption fees will be reduced on all other animals as well.
