GEAUGA COUNTY-- A settlement has been reached in the Chardon Healing Fund lawsuit.

In May, the families of Demetrius Hewlin, 16; Daniel Parmertor, 16; and Russell King, Jr., 17, who were gunned down and killed by another student at Chardon High School in February 2012, filed a court action asking the Geauga County Probate Court to determine the extent of their rights as beneficiaries of the fund.

According to a release from United Way of Greater Cleveland, the settlement provides for some additional payment to each of the families to be made by the fund.

The balance of the fund will then be used to address ongoing physical and emotional needs of others in the Chardon community impacted by the shooting, the release said.

All parties reportedly agreed that the settlement provides a satisfactory resolution, but no other details on the settlement will be released and no other comments concerning the agreement will be made.
