ROTTERDAM, N.Y. — A little girl who lost her family and suffered burns in an arson is being deluged with cards and gifts from strangers around the world who were moved by her simple Facebook wish.

The Facebook post shows a picture of 8-year-old Safyre Terry and says she’d like enough Christmas cards to fill a small card tree bought by the aunt who’s now raising her. The post has now been shared tens of thousands of times.

Safyre and her aunt, Liz Dolder, went to a mall post office this week to collect the first batch of hundreds of cards and gifts that have poured in from well-wishers.

Safyre and her aunt are thanking everyone for this amazing outpouring.

“This is absolutely amazing, it takes my breath away. We, my family and I have been through so much darkness of this this world. Then to see the most powerful BEAUTY of the world. The world coming together to make Safyre’s wish come true is unfathomable. All along we knew God saved her for a reason, never in ours wild dreams, did we think she would move the hearts of many worldwide. Safyre is a living testimony, “no matter what, you can get through anything” as long as you BELIEVE in HOPE FAITH LOVE. Thank you doesn’t quite say enough for the graditude we have for all you caring and generosity. THANK YOU”

Cards and moving messages are coming in from all over the world.

Meanwhile, a crowdfunding post on YouCaring.com has generated more than $174,000 to help the family with medical bills and other financial challenges.
