CLEVELAND, Ohio-- It’s the end of an era for a legendary and beloved Cleveland-area broadcaster.

For 21 years, Kym Sellers has been as close as your car radio or Internet live feed hosting “The Quiet Storm” on 93.1 WZAK.

Her velvet voice mixed with relaxing R&B music and a genuinely kind heart and open ear made her a favorite among listeners.

Thursday night, Sellers announced at the start of her show that it would be her last broadcast on that station.

“But I am not retiring,” said Sellers, “Whoever said it, stop saying it because this is not a retirement, but it is a time of celebration and a time for change.”

The always-positive Sellers accepted with dignity and grace that her contract wasn’t renewed; she even thanked Radio One for all they’ve done for her.

The only tears shed were for her listeners and the many friends she’s made over the years, whom she considers more like family.

“I just can’t, I just can’t thank the listeners enough,” said Sellers.

Countless people called in to wish her well including Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, and Councilman Zack Reed.

As for what’s next, Kym says she isn’t sure yet but knows that with prayer and perseverance all will be well.

The mother of four has already survived so much.

She’s openly discussed her battle with multiple sclerosis and shared her personal journey with experimental stem cell treatments on Fox 8 News.

A journey that is on-going, with new information and updates soon to be aired on Fox 8 News.

Kym says she’s grateful for her years on-air and hopes people will continue to contact her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

“It’s been an incredible ride 21 years,” said Sellers, “And we’ll continue on."
