PARMA, Ohio– Local safety forces and the Sea of Blue police support group just teamed up on the golf course. But they did it to help out a Special Olympics golf program.

They donated $200 to Fairway Friends, a golf mentoring program. A firefighter and a K-9 officer presented a large mock check and an actual check at Ridgewood Golf Course in Parma.

Sea of Blue founder Mary Jo Graves said, “We are on a mission to make a difference in as many ways as we can. And local safety forces are jumping at the opportunity to help.”

Officer Bobby Jackson, the handler for K-9 Dexter, said he’d rather make people smile with his partner than have to make an arrest.

The Sea of Blue started in 2013 with a large rally for police. Since then, the group has been involved in organizing more rallies and prayer gatherings for safety forces, and programs bringing kids and police together. More plans are in the works.
