BARBERTON, Ohio — A judge set bond at $50,000 for the man charged in a hit-and-run that killed 27-year-old Scott Hollifield last month.

Carl Sapper, 38, is charged with a felony count of not stopping after an accident involving an injury to a person. Additional charges are pending.

Police say Hollifield was walking with a friend near the intersection of Van Buren Street and Lincoln Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on November 30, when he was struck by a car that never stopped. Hollifield’s friend was unhurt.

Hollifield suffered serious head injuries and had been hospitalized in intensive care until his death on Dec. 6.

Sapper is being held in the Summit County Jail.  He’s expected in court on Dec. 21.
