ASHTABULA, OH — Five people were injured when a car went over a cliff and landed on a private beach early Saturday morning.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Tyler Ashley, 26, of Ashtabula, was driving a 1999 Honda Civic northbound on Union Avenue around 3:05 a.m. when he failed to yield at a stop sign. The car went through a residential lawn, over a cliff and landed on a private beach near Lake Erie.
Troopers say Katrina Welton, 22, of Ashtabula, Benjamin Ashcroft, 22, of North Kingsville, Shawn Ryder 25, of Ashtabula, and Brandyn Frampton, 21, of Kingsville, were also injured in the crash.
All the occupants were transported to Ashtabula County Medical Center. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says three people were seriously injured.
The crash is still under investigation.
