AMHERST, Ohio — Four teenagers were arrested this week for reportedly making bottle bombs and being found with stolen street signs.
According to Amherst Police Department, officers were called to a residence on East Martin Street at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday to reports of males making explosives and stealing signs.
When they arrived, officers saw two 20-ounce plastic water bottles with liquid inside along with fluorescent yellow-green snow and a sheet of tin foil near the back door of the residence.
The suspects told officers what was in the bottles, and after consulting with a bomb squad, officers determined the bottles were not explosive.
The suspects told police they were following directions obtained online to make the bottle bombs, using carpet cleaner and floor cleaner.
Police also found four stolen street signs.
David Orzech, 18, of Amherst, was arrested for inducing panic, criminal tools, disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of signals/street signs.
Three 17-year-old males were also arrested on charges including inducing panic, criminal tools and disorderly conduct.
