BRUNSWICK, Ohio – A child’s first haircut can be a memorable experience for parents, and that definitely was the case for Jennifer Pastorelle.
Her daughter, Hailey, cut off about 11 inches on Monday and plans to donate it to Locks of Love.
"Her hair is so pretty and we get compliments wherever we go, so we decided that we would donate it to Locks of Love," Pastorelle said.
She lost her own mother to Ovarian cancer when she was 15. She said it was an experience that changed her life, and is the reason she went on to become a registered nurse.
"We definitely know the effects of cancer in my family and how that feels, so if we can help just give back, it would mean a lot to be able to do that,” she said.
A hair stylist named Joanna, who also happens to be a family friend, cut her hair at Dino Maria’s in Brunswick. The entire process took around a half hour.
Pastorelle and her husband loved the results and so did Hailey.
"Oh, I think it looks adorable. She is going to be excited,” she said.
Hailey was given a certificate by the salon for donating her hair, and will also get a teddy bear from Locks of Love.
Pastorelle said she’s proud of her daughter for being so generous.
"Little things like that that you can do, you know, it can mean a lot,” she said.
