(CNN) — Three people were killed and another was seriously injured Saturday in a shooting near the Jewish Museum of Belgium in the center of Brussels, fire department spokesman Pierre Meys said, according to CNN affiliate Bel RTL.
A security perimeter was established around the scene of the shooting, according to Bel RTL.
Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Didier Reynders said via Twitter that he was “shocked by the murders committed at the Jewish Museum.”
He added that his thoughts go out to the victims that he saw at the scene and to their families.
The Jewish Museum of Belgium is located in central Brussels, not far from other tourist sites.
