LORAIN – In a statement, Republic Steel announced that 200 employees at Lorain Hot End Operations are temporarily being laid off.

It is due to the declining oil and gas markets, along with reduced demand.

The employees are a combination of salaried and hourly workers.

Republic is working with United Steel Workers leadership to minimize any layoffs.
