DAYTON, Ohio— Authorities say two teenagers who were with a 16-year-old boy shot at a southwest Ohio mall during an attempted robbery have been charged as juveniles in his death.
Police allege the three boys accosted two shoppers who were leaving the Dayton Mall after buying popular, limited-edition athletic shoes Dec. 20. Police say one teen showed a gun and was shot by a shopper who had a concealed weapon permit.
A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy have been held in juvenile detention. Their attorneys tell the Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/13J8ZLq ) they aren’t guilty and charges should be dismissed.
A prosecutor’s spokesman says accomplices can be held responsible for a death during an aggravated robbery under Ohio law.
There’s a hearing Jan. 16 on whether the case moves to adult court.
