SMYRNA, Georgia — The man police say are responsible in a deadly domestic violence incident was a marine and dealt recently with severe depression.
On Sunday, Antoine Davis, 30, reportedly became belligerent and intoxicated when he shot and killed his girlfriend, Jessica Arrendale, 33, and then himself.
Arrendale was holding their 6-month-old baby when she was shot in the head. She somehow managed to twist her body, dropping the baby into the toilet, shielding the child. That’s where authorities found the infant 13 hours later after a lengthy stand-off.
MyFoxAtlanta says Tamaira Chesley, has two children with Davis — and they were in the home at the time of the murder-suicide. They were in a different part of the house from where the incident occurred, but heard the shots and smelled smoke before running out of the house.
Chesley said Davis was a dedicated marine who served in Iraq. She said despite what happened, he’d always been a good man and a good father.
A gofundme page has been set up to help with funeral expenses and educational expenses of Arrendale’s other children. So far, $11,940 has been raised.
