WARREN, Ohio-- A 15-year-old girl accused of killing her father in July will not be tried as an adult.

Atty. Ian Friedman, who represents Bresha Meadows, said he is pleased with the decision.

"We still want her home but we are very glad to hear this decision," Friedman told Fox 8 news.

Bresha Meadows is accused of shooting and killing her father, Jonathan Meadows, 41, on July 28 inside their Warren home. Her mother, Brandi, can be heard on the 911 recording saying her daughter shot her husband in the head.

Brandi Meadows told Fox 8 in August that Bresha was her hero. She said they lived in an abusive household and Bresha was trying to protect her.

Had Bresha faced adult charges, she could have been sentenced to life in prison. Under the juvenile system, if convicted, she can only be held until she is 21.
