SUGAR CREEK, Ohio- A giraffe at an Amish Country animal farm gave birth to a baby boy last week.

Gabriel was born on Dec. 26 just before 5 a.m. at The Farm at Walnut Creek. He weighed 145 pounds and stood more than 6 feet tall.

The Farm at Walnut Creek, which is home to more than 750 animals, said giraffes give birth standing up, so newborns are welcomed to the world by dropped 6 feet to the ground. The baby is now standing, walking and nursing.

There are six giraffes at the farm, including Gabriel’s parents, Martha and George.

The Farm at Walnut Creek is open Monday through Saturday. Along with the giraffes, visitors can see zebras, camels, kangaroos and tortoises roaming throughout the park.
