11 Arrested for Drunk Driving in Lorain County

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — Eleven people were arrested over the past week for operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Lorain County, bringing the total OVI arrests for 2013 to 46.

Those numbers are according to the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 9,878 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities nationally. That number accounted for 31 percent of overall fatalities.

An alcohol-impaired driving fatality is one in which the person killed had a blood alcohol content of .08 or above.
