CLEVELAND, Ohio – It’s become a tradition on Fox 8 News in the Morning to welcome the Weeden Family Singers on Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a way of honoring the civil rights leader with music.
The Weeden Family Singers not only share a special love of gospel music, but also a family legacy with MLK Jr. Their ancestor Dr. John Weeden was a well-known Baptist minister in Cleveland who often invited MLK Jr. to speak at St. Timothy Baptist Church. The two men also worked together on voter registration drives.
