CLEVELAND — He’s making us see things in a new way. You may know his work; now Fox 8 News is introducing you to the man behind the art.
Seph Lawless just published a book featuring photographs of abandoned malls called “Black Friday: The Collapse of the American Shopping Mall.”
Lawless has also captured abandoned theaters, factories and homes, both here in his hometown of Cleveland and across the country.
The images are haunting and beautiful at once.
“Pretty much showing a different side of America that most Americans didn’t know existed,” Lawless said on Fox 8 News Wednesday morning.
“Black Friday” features Northeast Ohio’s Randall Park Mall and Rolling Acres Mall.
Both were built in the mid-1970s and were abandoned in 2008 and 2009.
