It is one of the most important and nerve-racking moments of a man’s life — asking his girlfriend to become his wife.

A survey by All Speeches Great and Small — a wedding speech writing agency — found that only about 13-percent of proposals go according to plan.

That’s almost six out of every seven proposals that fall flat.

So what are the issues? Many grooms say location is key. Most of the iconic locations picked were too crowded.

Grooms also reported instances of other proposals taking place at the same time — upstaging the other.

Stage fright is also a big problem. Fewer than 10 percent of grooms actually said what they planned to say.
