Simply Simple French Toast
1 cup milk
10 to 12 slices white bread
Maple syrup, warmed (but fruit syrups are good too!)
Break eggs into a medium-sized bowl and whisk lightly with a fork. Stir in milk and whisk to combine.
Heat griddle or skillet over medium-low heat. Add butter – enough so there will be a thin layer on bottom of pan.
Pour egg mixture into a wide shallow plate – a pie pan is perfect.
Dip slices of bread – one at a time – into the egg mixture, allowing slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side. Only soak as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
Transfer bread slices to hot griddle or skillet. Watch carefully – allow to cook slowly until bottom is golden brown.
Turn and brown the other side.
Serve hot with butter and warmed syrup.
Allow 2-3 pieces of French Toast per serving.
