CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Fox 8's Tracy McCool grew up enjoying lots of delicious recipes from her mom Pam.

So it was only natural we would ask Pam McCool to join us for Freaky Friday to share the perfect pumpkin dessert recipe that is a cross between a pie and a cake. Pam's recipe is printed below.

Years ago when Tracy was an anchor on Fox 8 News in the Morning, Pam shared another family favorite recipe that is still popular with Fox 8 viewers.

Pam's Pumpkin Pie Cake

1 box yellow cake mix (set 1 cup aside)
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 egg
* press into 9x13 pan

  Pumpkin Pie Mix

3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 large can pumpkin
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. each of allspice, cloves(ground), ginger, nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cornstarch (heaping)
1 cup evaporated milk
*Mix all together. Pour over cake batter


Combine reserved 1 cup of cake mix.
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine or butter
*sprinkle over pumpkin. Can sprinkle with nuts.

*Bake at 350 about 1 hour until pumpkin is set

Note: for the pumpkin pie mix you can use your favorite recipe. Top with whipped cream.
