Fox 8′s Stefani Schaefer gave an update on Monday on her husband's recovery.
It has been six weeks since the accident, and she talked about the surgery he underwent on Friday that marked the "next chapter" in the journey.
Doctors reattached part of his skull, which was initially removed to allow more room for the brain to swell.
All along, she has been updating her Facebook fan page to let everyone know how Roger is doing. What follows is her complete post from Sunday night:
"Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday. I can't thank you enough for all your comments these last few weeks... they are really helping us all during this time. I wanted to update you quickly on my Roger. He is still being watched very closely following his brain surgery on Friday. The doctors are talking about putting in a cerebral shunt over the next few days or weeks. I spent the day with Roger and he seems a little more aware and mouthed a few more words than he had before the surgery. I felt very hopeful today. These six weeks have been so heartbreaking, painful and draining. It's so easy to feel down and days like today give me that boost I need. I also know I need to just have Faith and believe he will get better and come back to us. Some days though the hurdles seem insurmountable and truly overwhelming. Roger's will to live - his fight to keep going, the amazing doctors and nurses, all of you and the Grace of God have given me strength every single day. I pray for another good day for Roger tomorrow."
Keep checking Stefani's Facebook fan page for further updates, and please, if you are able, continue to pray for Roger.
