It was recently discovered that an elementary school in Florida gave students Mountain Dew before they took standardized tests, according to MyNews13.com.
A grandmother brought forward her concerns after her 10-year-old granddaughter said they had the soda every morning.
The school district explained three tablespoons of Mountain Dew and trail mix were offered before standardized testing based on a study about keeping children’s energy levels stable.
MyNews13.com reported no one was forced to accept the snack and drink and it wasn’t served in place of the usual breakfast.
Following the complaint, Mountain Dew will no longer be offered.
