RIO DE JANEIRO — Scientists, health experts and others are calling for the summer Olympics to be postponed or even cancelled over the threat of Zika.
The games will be held in Rio, and Brazil has been at the center of a months-long outbreak.
Fox Sports writer Dieter Kurtenbach, however, says that canceling the Olympic games, at this point, would be too cruel to the athletes who have qualified to participate.
One option some say is for the United States, Canada, England or others to host some of the events.
The ‘global games’ could be spread around the world, including hosting track and field in L.A. and basketball in Berlin, Kurtenbach writes.
However, the CDC recently said there is no reason to cancel or postpone the Olympics.
