Pier W is celebrating a landmark anniversary. The popular Northeast Ohio lakefront restaurant has been a seafood destination for 50 years. Pier W Executive Chef Regan Reik shared his recipe for crab cakes with Fox 8’s Wayne Dawson and talked about what makes Pier W so special.

Pier W Crab cakes

1# lump crabmeat
1  tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon minced shallots
1 teaspoon minced celery
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 egg
1 teaspoon kosher salt
pinch black pepper
2 Tablespoons fresh bread crumbs

In stainless steel bowl, mix all ingredients by hand (except breadcrumbs)
Fold in breadcrumbs until just incorporated
Do not over mix
Form into 1 or 2 ounce crab cakes

Using vegetable oil, spread a shallow layer of oil in a cast iron skillet
Cook crab cakes three minutes on each side
